What do the colors of the gay pride flag mean

(Pedo + HIV (which made you a leper back in the day) are harder crosses to bear. also less scary to leave your kid around back when gay men were conflated with Pedophiles. HIV being pretty peculiar to them, caused a lot of fear and discrimination against them whereas Lesbians remained fun to watch.

Is the list ordered by contribution to the cause historically OR by level of oppression? (Ordered from most oppressed 2 less so.) If former is the case, I'd gander gay men have had It worse.
